The FAA does not impose a universal 30-day advance requirement for every commercial drone flight. Adaptive Perspective uses an approximately 30-day lead time for Tidewater projects as an operating standard because the region contains dense aviation activity, controlled airspace, airports, military facilities, waterfront infrastructure, and sites where access may require extra coordination.
The Location Determines the Authorization Path.
Operations in controlled airspace require the applicable FAA authorization. Two project sites only a few miles apart can have different planning needs, so the exact project location should be reviewed before the flight date is promised.
LAANC Can Be Fast—But Not Every Request Is Instant.
At participating airports, LAANC can provide near-real-time authorization when the request fits the applicable parameters. Some requests may require further coordination or a manual authorization path.
Airspace Is Only Part of the Lead Time.
Access, cranes, traffic, security, active operations, launch position, and the client’s milestone can all affect whether an authorized flight is actually ready to execute.
Early Airspace Planning Protects the Project Schedule.
The value of a 30-day planning standard is that it creates room for the exceptions instead of assuming every request can be handled at the last minute.

A project team does not need every detail finalized 30 days out. Exact location, expected milestone, target date range, documentation goal, and known access restrictions are enough to start identifying constraints.
